Macheist is a group of promoters who once a year assemble a bundle of good macintosh software from independent software developers at a ridiculously low price. Total package would cost around $900 independently and they are selling it over the next 2 weeks for $39 dollars.

Software developers are selling their apps in this package for pennies on the dollar, but make it up with volume and by expanding their customer list to sell additional items. Some developers have criticized the program stating that it cheapens the market, but participation is voluntary and the event is temporary.

I recently upgraded this site to Drupal 6 and wanted to share a few notes. I had several objectives during this upgrade:

1. Upgrade to Drupal core and contributed modules to version 6
2. Convert audio and video content types to cck filefield with swftools (and Quicktime media to Flash)
3. Convert to Drupal's multi-site architecture to allow my self to be able to run additional sites in the future
4. Get the site under version control with Subversion and deploy with Sitecopy.
5. Use my new theme

In the last installment we styled our pageContainer div by giving it a width of 791px. Today we want to style the following divs: columnContainer, leftPage and rightPage.

Last night I attended Mayor Coleman's community meeting on the 43.8 million dollar 2 year budget shortfall for the City of St. Paul. Much of the shortfall is due to deep cuts in local government aid from the state of Minnesota.

The city's total budget in 2008 was about $200 million. The big ticket items for the city are Fire, Police, Libraries, Parks and Rec centers in that order. (I'll update with exact numbers in the next day or so).
