Remember the Fundamentals of Digital Audio is part of the Home Recording Network. Updating my iMac to Leopard has gone smoothly so far. Amadeus Pro, Garage Band and the Presonus Inspire I394 are all working fine.In this podcast we look at the BEHRINGER MIC 200 PREAMP. I really like this little guy especially if you use one of the warm settings for vocals. I has a low cut filter - great for cutting out the low rumbly sounds of speech. It has enough gain/output to power my cold Shure Beta 58 mic - essential if yo use a dynamic mic because entry level audio interfaces from Presonus and M-Audio don't have enough output for most dynamic mics. As you can see in the image there are several voicings to color your sound. I especially liked the valve setting which I used for most of the podcast. This unit also has a limiter that really seems to help prevent clipping as well. For $50 this is a great budget preamp

Thanks for your review!
Hi Geoff,
First let me say Thank you for sharing your time & talents with running this Podcast. As long as your heart is in it, you should continue to pursue it. I have been listening to your podcast for a short time now, however they have provided me with information and helped me along my daily 1.5 hour drive back & forth to work.
Thanks for the review on the Behringer Mic Pre, I have been recently thinking about purchasing a mic-pre and I have always admired the Behringer brand (I currently own a Behringer mixer).
Keep up the good work & know that you have a listerner in the Michigan area!
Great!
Hi Geoff, good to hear from you again. It's cool to hear the transition to Leopard went fine for you. I'm still waiting on drivers of my Alesis IO|14 and my M-Audio Fasttrack Pro. The first is not usable due to stutters and hickups in the recording and playback.Never the less, I feel great using the new Leopard. The Behringer seems like a neat little preamp. It's not really quiet, but it sounds like a enough bang for your buck. Cheers, listening forward to the next episode. BTW: the yelling was cool :-)
