My first reaction to this book was fairly negative after looking though the table of contents. The book doesn't cover CCK or Views theming at all - 2 essential parts of almost any current Drupal site. I was hoping it would cover CCK and Views theming in detail. However, when I got over the initial disappointment, I found a lot of good content in the book. It explains how themes work in detail in Drupal 5, how to modify existing themes, find additional themes for Drupal, and making themes from scratch.
Don't get complacent though and update without backing up first.
I hope my other 6 drupal sites update as easily as this one.
By the way - I've gotten in the habit of not overwriting my sites/* folder on the server when updating. Is that cheating?
We take a look at using the Imagefield and Imagacache modules for Drupal.
We pick up where we left off on creating a news site using cck node reference and now imagecache and imagefield.
CCK's Node reference is becoming a popular technique for publising sites. Two sites of note are the New York Observer and the Rake Magazine. Both sites featured in nice write-ups on Drupal.org (linked above). Both mention the use of node reference, yet there are a few tricks to getting node reference to work. We''ll cover those tricks in this screencast.
You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Perhaps your browser cannot display it, or maybe it did not initialise correctly.
Here at http://geoffhankerson.com/drupal we have a new Drupal Screencast. So far we have screencasts on the Webform module, TinyMCE, TinyMCE Spellcheck and Teaser Break plugins as well as IMCE. Watch for a screencast on CCK node reference used on high profile sites like the New York Observer and The Rake magazine in the next day or two. After that perhaps I'll do one on the the Imagecache module.
